About Us

In August 1976, God urged our Pastor to start a work for Him that would reach out to people of every nationality and walk of life.  He, along with our First Lady Joan Keith, came to Louisville as strangers and the loneliness that they felt has helped them to create a church that is full of love and service to help all who are in need.

When Pastor Keith came to Louisville there was no existing membership.  After looking at several possible sites for a church, God's choice site was the building at 901 South 40th Street, on the corner of Garland Avenue.  On October 1, 1976, Apostle J. P. Steadman officially consecrated the new Refuge In Kentucky Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.  Those early days were certainly a true test of both Pastor and Lady Keith's faith in God and their obedience to Him.

On March 8, 1991, The Refuge In Kentucky Church body took possession of our current edifice.  Our goals of expansion were to give our youth a place to play, to reach every aspect of life in this community, and to rebuild broken lives.  As an out growth of this ministry we are meeting the needs of the whole person.  We are developing a holistic ministry that will meet the physical, emotional, psychological, and educational needs of our members and beyond.  These endeavors are designed to be a blessing for the community.  Whether those in need have sorted backgrounds or are successful and well respected members in their community, we want to be able to reach them by meeting their spiritual as well as their natural needs.

We are confident that the Lord has brought you here, and our hope is that you will be one of those who help this ministry fulfill our destiny.  We know God's purpose for us will continue to grow, and we hope you will come and grow with us.
