What We Believe
We believe in the one true God revealed in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that salvation comes through faith in Him, repentance, and baptism in His name. We uphold the teachings of the Apostles, living a life of holiness, guided by the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. We are committed to sharing the Gospel, equipping believers, and helping all people grow in a true and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Refuge In Kentucky Statement of Faith & Doctrinal Beliefs
-
We believe in one God, manifested as the Father in creation, Son in redemption, and the Holy Spirit in the church. Jehovah God of the Old Testament is Jesus Christ in the New Testament. (Deut. 6:4, Isa. 44:6-8, Jo. 1:1-4, 5:23, 10:30, 2 Cor. 5:19, 1 Jo.5:7-8).
-
We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God as revealed by the Holy Ghost, and that it alone serves as the sole source of our creeds, doctrines, and disciplines (John 14:26, 1 Cor. 2:9-13, 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
-
We believe in the redemption of sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the apostles’ doctrine of the new birth, through the process of repentance, baptism by immersion in the name Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance (Jo. 3.5, Acts 2:3-4, 38,41, 8:16, 10:44-45, 19:5-6, Ro.5).
-
We believe in sanctification through the Word of God by the Holy Ghost and in personal holiness of heart and life, which enables us to desire separation from sin and abstain from all inward and outward appearances of sin and sinful activities (Jo. 17:17, 19, Ro. 15:16, 1 Cor. 6:1-16, Eph. 5:26, 1 Thess. 5:23).
-
We believe in divine healing through faith in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and that healing is included in the redemption of man as “the children’s bread”. We also believe in the ministries of deliverance, reconciliation and restoration. (Ps. 103:3, Matt. 8:16-17, Mk. 16:16-18, Acts 4:12, Ro. 1:16, 3:24, 5:1, 10:10, 1 Cor. 6:11).
-
We believe in tithing and offerings as a means by which God’s people worship Him with their substance and thereby contribute to the work of the Lord’s church (Mal. 3:8-11, Heb. 7:1-5).
-
We believe in the divinely appointed ordinances of the church, which we are to perform until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ; namely:
-
Water baptism by immersion in the name of Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, which is the primary act of faith and obedience to God’s Word, subsequent to repentance (Acts 2:38, 41, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5).
-
Communion (or the Lord’s Supper) in the form of bread and wine, which was first celebrated by Melchisidec and later instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, who is a High Priest forever after the order of Melchisidec, which is to observed in remembrance of His broken body and shed blood as He made atonement for the sins of the world. (Gen. 14:18, Matt. 26:26-29, Lk. 22:17-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-24).
-
Washing of Feet, as Jesus washed the feet of disciples at the Last Supper as a sign of humility and service to the body of Christ (John 13:4-15, 1 Tim. 5:10).
-
-
We believe in the active work of evangelism and missions in accordance with the Great Commission by preaching and teaching the gospel and demonstrating the love of God to humanity in real and practical ways (Matt. 28:18-19, Mk. 16:15-18, Lk. 24:47-19, Acts 1:8).
-
We believe in the necessity of regular worship and fellowship amongst believers (Acts 2:42-47, Acts 4:31-33, Heb. 10:25).
-
We believe in the literal Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to gather His Prepared people to be with Him forever (Acts 1:11, 1 Thes. 4:16-17, Rev. 1:7, 19:11-16, 22:12).
